Vintage Mystery Cover Scavenger Hunt 2016:
There are two choices. Participants can play along in either the Golden or Silver Mystery Eras or both. There is a Silver Age and a Golden Age Checklist (both have the same items).
For the purposes of this challenge, the Golden Age Vintage Mysteries must have been first published before 1960. Short story collections (whether published pre-1960 or not) are permissible provided all of the stories included in the collection were originally written pre-1960.
Silver Age Vintage Mysteries may be first published any time from 1960 to 1989 (inclusive). Again, Silver Age short story collections published later than 1989 are permissible as long as they include no stories first published later than 1989.

This is the perfect challenge for me since I love old paperback editions and collect as many as I can afford. I am not going overboard in my goals; I plan to aim for six Golden Age Mysteries and six Silver Age Mysteries that fit the rules of this challenge. More than that will just be a bonus.

Col, I am cutting way back on challenges this year. This one is not really too challenging for me. I would read a lot of vintage mysteries anyway. But fun to play along.

Oh, that does sound interesting, Tracy. Covers can be fascinating in and of themselves, I think. And it's a good way to try vintage books you might not otherwise try.
Ann, I have been working on a 50 state challenge since I started blogging and getting there too slowly. I started at Goodreads, then joined a blog challenge, and haven't done well with keeping up with my progress. I have got to go looking for some of the more obscure states. Too many mysteries are set in California or New York.
Very true, Margot. Some have been languishing on my shelves too long and this may push me to read them.
I decided not to go crazy with challenges this year and, more importantly, be careful about which ones I chose to do. And this I couldn't resist as it looks like so much fun. Good luck and have fun!
Tracy, I remember this challenge, not that I participated, and it's very innovate too. As I read my books, I will keep the covers in mind, especially the little pictorial details that I miss.
Me too, Cath. I am really cutting down on challenges that go the full year. I hope I have less problems tracking this one than I did the Bingo Challenge.
I really enjoy book covers, Prashant, even the more contemporary ones. Especially vintage books. Vintage hardcover books are often too expensive so I concentrate on the paperbacks.
