For 2013, I have decided to participate in the TEA & BOOKS Reading Challenge! This challenge encourages us to read ... books with more than 650 pages!
Did I join this challenge because of the nice button for the challenge? Was I swayed because I love tea? That and more. My husband also encouraged me to read a couple of extra large chunksters this year, and pointed out this challenge to me.
The books may be:
- Either fiction and non fiction books!
- Short story collections, anthologies or collected works in one volume are allowed!
- Re-reads are OK (though preferably you should read one of those unread tomes that have been collecting dust on your shelves)!
- Books with more than 1,200 pages will count for two books!
I am joining at the 2 Book level (Chamomile Lover). I am really a black tea drinker, but no way I am going to read more than two books of that length this year.
I have two books in mind, but reserve the right to change my mind:
The Meaning of Night by Michael Cox (fiction, historical mystery)
The Third Reich in Power by Richard J. Evans (non-fiction, history)
A warm welcome to the challenge! And how lovely to see that you also include a non fiction book! HAPPY READING!!
ReplyDeleteTracy - What I like about this is that there's such flexibility in the books one can choose. You're already selected some interesting-sounding titles and I'll be really interested in your reviews. I must admit I'm not much of a one for long books, but sometimes they can be more absorbing than shorter ones. I hope you'll enjoy the challenge.
ReplyDeleteI agree on all counts. I don't like long books but these two I really want to read. I have a couple of other long ones in my plans but not as long as 650-700 pages.
DeleteI have been meaning to read some of the more well-known long books, of Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, and Tolkien, for some time now but so far the closest I have come to reading anything 650 pages and more are the six Harry Potter books. I have reserved books seven for 2013. Good luck with this challenge, Tracy.
ReplyDeleteI have read the first six books in the Harry Potter series also, and haven't read the last one. I bought it a year or so after it was first published and then just never made the time to read it. I don't think it is quite as long as the others, but still a lot of pages. I will be doing a fantasy challenge in the spring, maybe I will read it then.
DeleteThat IS a nice-looking button!
