Classics Club Spin #24: the Selection

Sunday, August 9, the spin number was selected, and it was 18. Number 18 on my list is: The Beast Must Die by Nicholas Blake.

This is the 4th book in the Nigel Strangeways series and is considered by many to be a crime fiction classic. The author was British Poet Laureate (1968-72) and novelist Cecil Day Lewis, writing as Nicholas Blake. A young boy is killed in a hit-and-run accident. His father plans to discover the identity of the driver and get his revenge.

I had just blogged recently about wanting to read this book soon, so now I will get my chance. The "deadline" to read and review the book is September 30th, so I will probably wait until September to start reading it. I want to focus on my 20 Books of Summer list until the end of August.

Oh, I hope that you'll enjoy this one, Tracy. I think it's a really interesting case, and it has some fascinating psychology, in my opinion. I'll be looking forward to your thoughts on this.

Tracy, I'm joining #ccspin nr 24....after a hiatus.
Nr 18 is a crime fiction!! Deacon King Kong by James McBride (published 2020)
What are the odds....I'm back into CF!

Nancy, Deacon King Kong sounds like an interesting book, and I look forward to hearing your opinion of it. I had seen the cover of this book before but know little about the author. Some of his other books sound good also.

I am one of the very few who do not think highly of the book. I am eager to know your reaction to it, Tracy:)

Neeru, I knew I remembered that someone had said that recently and now I remember. Well, I will find out soon enough.

Glad you got a book you are looking forward to in the spin. I did as well and will be reading Turn of the Screw this time.

Thanks, Mary. I have always been afraid to read The Turn of the Screw, but it is relatively short and I should just read it and see what I think.
