Mount TBR Reading Challenge 2014

I am joining in on the Mount TBR Reading Challenge for the third year. This challenge is hosted by Bev at My Reader's Block.

 Challenge Levels:

Pike's Peak: Read 12 books from your TBR pile/s

Mount Blanc: Read 24 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Vancouver: Read 36 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Ararat: Read 48 books from your TBR piles/s
Mt. Kilimanjaro: Read 60 books from your TBR pile/s
El Toro: Read 75 books from your TBR pile/s
Mt. Everest: Read 100 books from your TBR pile/s

Mount Olympus (Mars): Read 150+ books from your TBR pile/s

Some of the rules are:
  • Once you choose your challenge level, you are locked in for at least that many books. If you find that you're on a mountain-climbing roll and want to tackle a taller mountain, then you are certainly welcome to upgrade.
  • Challenge runs from January 1 to December 31, 2014.
  • Books must be owned by you prior to January 1, 2013. No ARCs (none), no library books. No rereads.
  • A blog and reviews are not necessary to participate
There is more explanation at the sign-up post on Bev's blog.

In 2014, I plan to make my goal to reach Mt. Vancouver (36 books from my TBR pile).  Same as last year. I hope to read 72 books in the year and I would like at least half of them to be books to be ones I already owned in 2013.

Good luck Tracy. It will take real discipline to make half of your reading from the TBR pile.

I think I will stick with the challenges I've already committed to, but good luck with this one.

Thanks, Bill, I do have a lot of books already that I want to read, so it should not be too hard.

Thanks, Col. I am looking forward to whittling down some of the TBR pile.

Tracy, I think I'll settle for Mount Shivalik, the small hills at the foothills of the mighty Himalayas, for my own unwritten and unspoken Mount TBR challenge for 2014, which is to read whatever I can from my TBR pile. Good luck to you!

Sounds good, Prashant. And thanks. Mount Shivalik sounds like a good goal.

Good luck, Tracy! I'm trying to read one of my own for every library or review book I read, but I'm not sure how long that will last.

Thanks, Rebecca. If I got books from the library, I would not be in the fix I am with too many books.

I was going to participate as this is a challenge I really need to complete. But no ARCs
:-(

True, Sarah. I don't have many ARCs so doesn't affect me. You could do a lower level for the non-ARCs.

Great idea. I'll try for Pike's Peak. I have 4 TBR stacks, and will try to read 12-16 books this year.

Good luck Tracy! Look forward to seeing what you have read and enjoyed in 2014 from your tbr pile. I said I would not state publicly any goals for 2014 and will see where the year takes me..

That's a good goal, Kathy. Glad you are joining in.

Thanks, Keishon, really I should commit to only reading from my TBR piles of books but that's too hard.
